Director, Capital Formation

Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and proactive Director, Capital Formation to lead our firm's fundraising efforts and manage our relationships with institutional investors. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive capital raising strategy, articulating Filion Capital's investment narrative, and securing commitments from a global network of Limited Partners (LPs). This is a highly visible role that is critical to the firm's growth and success.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven professional with a deep understanding of the private equity landscape and a proven ability to close fundraises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the firm's capital raising strategy for existing funds and new investment vehicles.
  • Manage the entire fundraising process, from initial targeting and marketing to due diligence and final closing.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with a global network of institutional investors, including endowments, foundations, pensions, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Lead the creation of all fundraising materials, including private placement memorandums (PPMs), pitch decks, due diligence questionnaires, and presentation materials.
  • Serve as a key representative of the firm alongside the investment team in all LP meetings, presentations, and annual investor conferences.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for existing LPs, ensuring transparent communication and providing timely reporting on fund performance and firm updates.
  • Monitor the LP landscape to identify new investor prospects and trends in the private equity fundraising market.
  • Work closely with the investment team to accurately convey the firm's strategy, performance, and value proposition.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Communications, or a related field; MBA or CFA is a plus.
  • 7+ years of direct experience in private capital fundraising (placement agent or in-house), investor relations, or a related institutional sales role within the private equity or alternative assets industry.
  • A proven track record of successfully raising capital from institutional investors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate a complex investment strategy with clarity and conviction.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of private equity fund structures, terms, and performance metrics.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and gravitas to build trust with sophisticated investors.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to meet with investors globally.
  • A genuine interest in global markets, with an ability to communicate the opportunity in emerging markets (particularly Africa) viewed favorably.

Annual Salary
The annual salary for the Director, Capital Formation position at Filion Capital ranges from $200,000 to $300,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This role includes a significant performance-based bonus, directly tied to capital raising goals.
