Position Overview

We are seeking a highly accomplished Principal, Investments to serve as a senior leader and deal captain within our firm. This individual will be entrusted with owning the entire investment process for complex transactions, from origination through closing and portfolio oversight. The Principal will not only execute deals but also play a key role in shaping sector strategy, mentoring the investment team, and contributing to the firm's strategic direction.

This position is designed for a seasoned investor ready to take on a role with significant autonomy, leadership responsibility, and a clear path to the partnership level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary deal lead, taking full ownership of investment thesis development, due diligence, negotiation, and execution.
  • Generate proprietary deal flow through an extensive network of relationships with founders, investment banks, and industry executives.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of deal structuring, including the negotiation of termsheets, definitive agreements, and financing arrangements.
  • Direct and review the analytical work of Associates and Vice Presidents, ensuring the highest quality of financial modeling and investment committee materials.
  • Serve as a key voting member of the investment committee, providing decisive analysis and judgment on potential investments.
  • Take an active role in portfolio management, often serving on company boards and working directly with management to drive value creation plans.
  • Contribute to firm-building initiatives, including investor relations, fundraising support, and the development of junior investment professionals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree from a top institution strongly preferred.
  • 8--10 years of direct and relevant experience in private equity, with a proven track record of leading and closing middle-market or growth equity transactions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a specific sector relevant to Filion's strategy is highly desirable.
  • Mastery of leveraged buyout modeling, merger models, and complex valuation analyses.
  • Exceptional leadership presence, with proven experience mentoring and developing a team.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the firm with the utmost professionalism to founders, partners, and investors.
  • Deep, existing network of relationships that can generate actionable investment opportunities.
  • A global mindset and experience with cross-border transactions is a significant advantage.

Annual Salary
The annual salary for the Principal, Investments position at Filion Capital ranges from $300,000 to $450,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This role includes a substantial performance-based bonus and a meaningful allocation of carried interest.
